Visit the Main Branch of Jersey City Free Public Library, Just Minutes From Liberty TowersBY Editor, April 7, 2015
Even before you step inside the Main Branch of the Jersey City Free Public Library, you’ll begin to appreciate its history. The building itself is a monumental stone structure, designed in the late 19th century and topped with ornamental balustrades and copper railings along the roof line. Inside, however, you’ll find an institution that is very much grounded in the 21st century. Computer workstations are located throughout the library, and free Wi-Fi allows you to connect your own laptop, table, or smartphone to the library’s network. There are thousands of paper books from which to choose, but there’s also a growing number of digital books you can check out and enjoy on your e-reading device or computer.
Here’s a fun fact, Liberty Towers residents: The Main Branch is also home to some pretty special document collections, too. It’s a Congressionally-designated depository for U.S. government documents from the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration Services, NASA, and many others, all of which are open to the public!
