Fall is here and with the cool weather comes fun outdoor activities you can enjoy that didn’t have a chance to in the summer heat. Apple picking is a staple fall activity, and there are several different orchards not far from Jersey City and Liberty Towers that our residents can choose from.
Prime apple picking season starts now and goes through the month of October. Here is a list of many apple orchards that are within an hour’s distance from Liberty Towers!
Wightman’s Farms: Located in Morristown, you can visit Wightman’s Farms and pick your own apples at their very own orchards. Different apples ripen and are grown through the months of September and October on their farm. In September you can expect to dozens of apple varities. If you are looking to make a couple of visits you can also purchase a membership which gives you discounted prices for your apple picking fun! The orchards are open Fridays from 12pm-5pm and Saturdays and Sundays 9am-5pm.Their website offers more information about apple picking at their farm, their stores and also farm tours.
Alstede Farms: Pick your own apples are available well into November at Alstede Farms which is located not too far from Liberty Towers in Chester. If you are looking to visit the farm, their website gives you all the information you could possibly need! From a list of when each apple variety starts to ripen, to a daily update on what is available that day, they make it easy for you to plan your apple picking fall adventure! Riamede Farms: Also located in Chester, Riamede Farm offers 34 different varieties of apples on their 35 acres of farm for visitors to choose from. They also offer hayrides to and from the orchards—which are free on weekends!
Sun High Orchard: Sun High Orchard in Randolph is open 7 days a week from 9am-6pm. In addition to apple picking you can also enjoy other fun activities such as hay rides, pony rides, fall farm tours and visiting their farm store which is full of baked goods and other produce.
