Ice Skating Around Jersey City

BY Editor, December 4, 2015

December is here and the cold weather is sweeping in! Ice Skating is one of the fabulous perks of the east coast winter and a fun event everyone can enjoy. There are several different rinks around Jersey City that our residents at Liberty Tower can visit as much as they want this winter and holiday season.

Charlie Heger Ice Rink at Pershing Field is just a few minutes away from Liberty Towers. The rink is located on Summit Avenue in Jersey City and remains open until almost the end of March. Pershing Field is open for public skating on Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-6pm, Friday 3:30-10pm, Saturday 1:15-10pm and Sunday 1:15-8pm. Admission for residents is $3 for adults, $2 for children and $1 for seniors. Skate rentals are also available for $4. You can also sign up for skating lessons which are free with the price of admission! Classes are offered to both children and adults, but given separately. Make sure to register in advance as space is limited!

Keep checking the Charlie Heger Ice Rink’s website for updates and a date posting for their annual Skate with Santa event! Admission is free and there will be refreshments throughout the day and the chance to get your picture taken.

Newport Skates is another ice rink close by to Liberty Towers in Jersey City. Skating season is open now, and the end date is weather permitting. Newport offers both group and private skating lessons for beginners or if you are looking to sharpen up your skating skills. You can learn more here about lessons and how to sign up. Admission to skate is $7 and skate rentals are also available. They are open for skating Monday-Friday 4-9 pm, Saturday 11am-9pm and Sunday 11am-7pm.

You can also check out the following ice skating rinks which are located right outside Jersey City, all close by and less than a half hour away from Liberty Towers.
