Restaurant Spotlight on Jersey City’s South HouseBY Editor, January 25, 2016
New to Jersey City this past Fall, South House is a great local eatery for our residents at Liberty Towers to check out if you haven’t already done so. Just a short drive up the road from Liberty Towers, one of the best southern dining experiences awaits!
Located on Newark Avenue, South House brings the taste and feel of the south right into the heart of downtown Jersey City. As you walk through their doors, the Southern decor immerses diner into a country atmosphere. Complete with a water fountain, ferns along the brick wall entrance and handmade greeting signs, South House not only brings great southern food, but southern hospitality. The experience continues as you walk through the doors to find high ceilings and rock and roll posters covering the walls, embracing the rustic southern feel the owners were going for.
Their menu is a combination of appetizers, entree dishes, seasonal and regular drinks and a brunch menu for the weekends. From Fried Pickles to Chopped Brisket Mac N’ Cheese, their menu is a variety that is sparse elsewhere in Jersey City. You can find all of the menu options here.
Continuing the southern atmosphere, South House features a recreation room for those looking for some fun and to stop in for a few drinks. Pool table, foosball table, shuffle board, dart boards and more are set up for patrons to take part in as they sip on beers and handcrafted cocktails such a the Don’t Mess with Texas or Bourbon Beauty.
Events are also held regularly at this new establishment. Live music is key to bringing the south to Jersey. You can check for updates on their event page for the announcement of the live music line up for this year!
