New Bistro Restaurant Opens Five minutes from Liberty Towers!BY Editor, March 30, 2016
The Kitchen Step is another great eatery that has opened its doors in Jersey City! Although they opened as a trial last month, their grand opening took place March 23rd marking their official joining of the Jersey City community. Liberty Towers residents are lucky to not have to travel very far to try out this new spot!
The Kitchen Step taps into the roots of Jersey City by opting for a historical name. Cornelius van Vorst was a prominent Jersey City resident and The Kitchen Step’s name is a tribute to his estate. You can read more about the historical significance to the city, on their about page here.
This intimate bistro is open for dinner and cocktails Tuesday-Thursday 5-10pm and Friday and Saturday until 11pm. As part of their official grand opening, they have expanded their menu and hours to include weekend brunch! Happy hour specials are also offered and run Tuesday-Friday from 5-7pm.
Walking through the doors you can expect the aroma of Southern-Italian cuisine– as that is the chef’s specialty! Current items on the menu that the kitchen whips up for guests include ricotta gnocchi, moroccan braised chicken and miso glazed portobello mushroom. Local residents who frequent this new place will see changes in the upcoming months, as the menu will adjust every so often. The main reason for this, is The Kitchen Step strives to use products from local markets, which means adjusting to what ingredients are in season at the time.
