Earth Day and More Around Jersey CityBY Editor, April 21, 2017
Earth Day is Saturday, April 22nd, and there are a lot of fun activities going on around Jersey City. Whether you want to take a stroll around Liberty State Park, cheer on fellow Jersey City residents running a 5K, or post pictures of the beautiful Cherry Blossoms blooming around the building, you can do it all this weekend.
The annual Jersey City Challenge Race returns April 22nd at Exchange Place. There will be new challenges for the participants and over 25 obstacles over a 3-mile course which will feature real police and taxi cars for participants to jump over, cargo nets, rope climb, walls, sand bags and more. The race is over by 12pm, so you can enjoy the rest of the day visiting other fun activities going on in Jersey City. After burning all those calories, you can treat yourself to some delicious food and drinks.
Liberty State Park will be hosting their free annual Earth Day Celebration which is sponsored by the Hudson County Improvement Authority. At the event, you’ll find the HCIA 5K walk/run, the Liberty State Park 5K walk/run and family-festival activities and food vendors. You can cheer on other runners in the community while enjoying the beautiful views of New York City and The Statue of Liberty. If you haven’t been to LSP yet, Earth Day is the perfect day to do so!
If you love music, specifically records, then stop by The Jersey City Riot event from 10-5pm on Newark Ave (Pedestrian Plaza) hosted by Iris Records. They’ll have over 40 tables of records, CDs, DVDs, live DJ’s, and awesome vinyl music playing for you to enjoy.
