Gringo’s in Jersey CityBY Editor, July 20, 2017
There’s a new taco restaurant in town and we can’t wait to check it out. They have already received excellent reviews from their soft opening. People are raving about their cocktails on tap, tasty food, fun ambiance, outdoor seating and music.
Their food is Mexican-American inspired and they bring a fun and festive atmosphere to their customers. From quirky neon signs to beers served in a brown paper bag, this place is full of surprises.
Their corn tortillas are made in house daily along with all their fresh sauces. They source only all-natural meats, poultry and seafood that is sustainable raised without hormones or antibiotics. Their cheeses and dairy products come from top producers and farms. A few items we suggest are: The Buffalo Solider taco (tempura jumbo shrimp, gringos buffalo sauce, carrot-celery slaw, ranch crema), Where’s the Beef (petite tenderloin, grilled poblanos & onions, queso fresco), and the Shroomer (grilled Portobello, sautéed poblanos & onions, pickled enoki mushroom, queso Oaxaca, smokey chipotle salsa). They also have healthy salads, appetizers such as jalapeno poppers (stuffed with chorizo) and dessert where guests can indulge in old school Choco Tacos.
As far as drinks, if you prefer a spicy margarita than the El Chapo drink is for you! They use jalapeno infused tequila and add blood orange and lime. The Nacho Mama’s Sangria (red pomegranate, white peach, sandiá rosé, sparkling guava Paloma) is also a crowd pleaser and can be bought by the glass or pitcher.
